FAQ’s for Plastic Recycling Sacks
Can you still get plastic recycling sacks from the outlets?
You can no longer get plastic recycling sacks from the libraries, parish councils, council building or our Recycling Roadshows.
Why are we stopping holding a stock plastics recycling sacks from outlets?
To cut down on single use plastic and stop the current recycling sacks being misused. This will also encourage resident to use the bags to their full capacity.
How often do Chelmsford City Council deliver plastic recycling sacks?
Chelmsford City Council will continue to deliver rolls of plastic recycling sacks to residents once a year, along with food waste bags and collection calendar. There are 52 sacks in a roll, which enough for two per collection. These deliveries are made in September/October.
How do we collect plastic packaging?
Waste plastic packaging is to be washed, squashed and bottles are to have their lid tops on to help expel air, then placed in the plastic recycling sacks provided by Chelmsford City Council. All waste materials are to be placed out by 7am on the morning of collection.
Where can I get more plastic recycling sacks from?
Should you need more bags these can be purchased from local supermarkets. We require them to be clear in colour so that collection operatives can identify the contents in the bag.
